CD -- GREAT LIFE, L.C. Lane, with Andy Lane
From the November 2004 edition of Monday Morning Email L.C. Lane is a singer, guitarist, humorist... and... a former MoM, having served FBC, Newnan, GA, for many years. This is L.C.’s fifth recording project... and three of the duets on this new recording are with his son, Andy! This is a really fun album. Yes, there is some serious, thought-provoking pieces that will cause reflection and thinking... but there are also a couple of pieces that will make you laugh. One of these is the ‘almost-famous’ BAPTIST TO THE BONE, written by Dennis and Nan Allen. It gets a really fine “Baptist” treatment on this recording. This is a great cut to play for choir rehearsal one night...for a good change of pace and a bit of laughter. THE PRAYER is one of the duets by L.C. and his son, Andy. It is extremely well-done and well-written. MMEMail encourages our readers to support L.C.’s ministry and purchase the CD...and it will also bless your own heart. |

"Kate's Song" on "Journey of Faith" emerged in the wee hours of the night in Lane's basement office. The former First Baptist music minister wrote the ballad for 103-year-old Kate Fuller's last birthday. The song commemorates Fuller's service as a church hostess. Most of the songs on Lane's new release stem from circumstances, sermons and Bible stories. He based "A Man's Gotta Do What A Man's Gotta Do" on a Father's Day sermon presented last year by Pastor Ron Hinson of First Baptist Church of Blakely. "Just Another Day" summarizes Lane's favorite parable, and "I Will Give Thanks" is a response to his wife Deborah's recovery from cancer. Lane's tunes range from the upbeat tempos of "Dear John Letters" and "I'll Be Here (till I get a better offer)" to the mellow tones of "Remember the Children" and "Just Another Day." His "Journey of Faith" contains songs that will engage the ears, heart and mind. "Tripp's Song (When Life's Just Not Fair)" lightheartedly addresses issues of forgiveness. Lane explains, "Tripp is my beautiful yellow lab who loves me in spite of the fact that we had an accident with a lawn mower when he was two months old, resulting [in] the loss of a leg (his not mine). He still loves to run and hunt with me, and do all the other doggie things, except jump. 'Tripp' is for three, not just because he does it a lot." Lane
extends his performances beyond the boundaries of church services by
playing at corporate gatherings, such as an upcoming state convention in

Christian Music
Review: L.C. Lane, Journey of Faith From the December 20-January 2, 2002 issue of The Christian Index This singer/songwriter has earned a place in the hearts of many Georgia Baptists over the years. After a career in music ministry through the local church he is now "on the road" sharing his gifts as a musical artist and humorist. This CD is his first foray into presenting original material inspired by real life experience in ministry. His guitar playing is notable and his smooth vocal performance will appeal to a local church audience. The songwriting shows a strong effort to apply Biblical content to real ministry situations. The songs, Dear John Letters, Remember Me and I Will Give Thanks showcase L.C. Lane as a dedicated minister of the gospel. CD -- Journey of
Faith, L.C. Lane From the July 23, 2001 edition of Monday Morning Email L.C. Lane was until last year the MoM, FBC, Newnan, GA, for 23 years. His fruitful and solid ministry is a testimony to his skills and abilities in music ministry... averaging over 800 in his music program for the last eight years. Last year, L.C. decided the Father wanted him to resign and begin a new music ministry... composing, singing and recording... as well as doing banquets, church services, parties and retreats. Recently, L.C. was the Tuesday evening Banquet entertainment for the recent SBCMC in B'ham, AL - and was a big hit. This album was released in early 2001 and much of the material from this work comes from his first year in this new direction of ministry. It is a very enjoyable CD... great for "listening travel!" |
